The British Blanket Company - The Shipping Forecast

Inspired by the coastline which wraps around our beautiful islands

Introducing

"Ripple"

Taking inspiration from The British Isles, our Special Edition collections push the boundaries of what's possible in weave design. Our new "Ripple" pattern incorporates curved lines which are rarely seen in weaving due to their complexity, but capture the essence of the ocean.

The result is a blanket which is engaging to look at with an almost 3D aesthetic. At times, the pattern almost feels like it is in motion.

Introducing

"Ombre"

The Shipping Forecast "Ombre" weave is inspired by the colour palette of our British coastline. The rolling green landscape of our coast, the warm neutrals and pinks of our shoreline and the dramatic blue of our deep ocean.

Each woven in seven colours of our finest yarns, our "Ombre" throws showcase more tones than any blanket we have ever woven. The gradual interplay between the colours provides a pleasing hue when viewed from afar but an intriguing texture when examined up close.

Design Story

Shipping Forecast Special Edition

Bringing the mesmerising colours and patterns of the British coastline to life in woven form, these beautiful blankets are works of art to treasure. Our 2022 Special Edition is the culmination of 12 months of design work, pushing the possibilities of weaving to its limit.

Co-founder, Bethan John, explains why this collection holds such special meaning for us, and how coastal landscapes, flora and fauna inspired each of the six designs.
