Books and Blankets: 3 Novels To Cosy Up With

Nothing goes together better than books and blankets! No matter the season or weather, a great book and a cosy blanket is always a great idea. Here are three gripping books we've read so far this year that we couldn't put down.

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

"It’s a hard business, reconciling what the truth used to be with what the truth is now."⠀
 ⠀⠀⠀⠀
We have never been so sad to finish a book because we'd never experience the first time reading it again. The last sentence of this book was one the best lines we have ever read.

This story is about a fictional reclusive Hollywood movie icon (Evelyn Hugo) who has summoned unknown magazine reporter Monique Grant to listen and write her life story. A life story full of scandal, love and observations of being a woman in Hollywood.

The Flat Share by Beth O'Leary

“We're so overdressed for a daytime event about crochet.”

Someone described reading this book as like receiving a warm hug... and honestly, they were right. Reading it felt as comforting and cosy as a blanket, especially at the end. This book was the perfect storm of a funny, heartwarming, quirky love story, but also dealt with some serious issues too.

The Flat Share revolves around Tiffy and Leon; two very different people who share a flat but haven't actually met. Quirky and cheesy and perfect. They communicate via text but mainly post-it notes left around their flat.

Girl, Woman, Other by Bernardine Evaristo

“Her morning mantra in the bathroom mirror I am highly presentable, likable, clubbable, relatable, promotable and successful”

Girl, Woman, Other was joint winner of the Man Booker Prize in 2019, sharing with Margaret Atwood's The Testaments. The story follows the lives and struggles of twelve very different characters who are all connected in one way or another (revealed at the end). These characters tell the stories of their families, friends and lovers, across the country and through the years.
