Easy ways to give your home decor a spring refresh

Spring is unquestionably the most joyful of seasons, but perhaps this spring more than any, we are welcoming it with wide open arms!

The promise of brighter days ahead is the perfect opportunity to rethink elements of your décor and give your home an easy spring refresh. Don’t worry; we’re not talking about time consuming DIY projects here, just a few simple ways to bring a spring-like touch to your home.

Add seasonal blooms

The easiest way to inject a spring feel into your décor is to add vases or pots of spring florals – scented bulbs like hyacinths not only look fresh but their heady scent will fill your home with the fragrance of spring too. For a modern touch, try separating flowers from a simple bouquet into individual vases or jars. Alternatively, take cutting from your garden in late spring and enjoy the feeling of bringing the outside in - try these tips to keep cut blossom fresh indoors.

Update with paint

There are lots of simple ways to introduce spring colour with paint, which can be achieved easily over a weekend without calling in the professionals. Our friends at Earthborn have noticed a big trend for adding painted stripes, squares or circles to a wall. Simply mask out your desired shape and paint! It’s a great way to introduce a new shade without committing to a whole new colour scheme.

Alternatively, paint a frame of colour around a window, mirror or favourite picture. For a truly spring-like feel, opt for a soft neutral or pastel colour.

Picture it

Speaking of artwork, switching around the framed photos in your home, or adding new ones to your walls, is a really effective way to give your home a fresh look.

Painting frames in a coordinating spring hue helps add a gentle pop of colour too. Earthborn’s Multi Purpose Primer can be applied to most surfaces prior to painting and our Eggshell No.17 paint will provide a practical, beautiful finish to your frames.

Change your textiles

New cushions, fresh bedding and colourful throws are a failsafe way to give your home décor a new, spring-like look. Opt for natural fibres that are soft to touch such as The British Blanket Company’s 100% wool blankets, which are warm but not too heavy. Choose pastel tones for a gorgeous spring palette; we especially love the Buttercup Yellow colourway which is sure to add a welcome dose of sunshine!

Spring clean

Finally, there’s nothing like the feeling of a tidy, well-organised home. It might not be the most exciting of tasks but de-cluttering just a small area is one of the best ways to prepare your home for spring. It will help to create a feeling of calm and you’ll never regret having a good old sort out! If you’re lacking in storage, a few baskets in natural fibres will lend themselves to a spring look and help maintain a clear space.
