We’re thrilled to unveil our new artist collaboration blankets – a joyful partnership with celebrated British printmaker and textile designer, Clarissa Hulse. Together, we’ve created a limited-edition collection of woven cotton throws that bring Clarissa’s iconic botanical patterns to life through the craft of jacquard weaving. Let me introduce you to the design concepts, weaving process and the finished results of The British Blanket Company x Clarissa Hulse blanket collaboration.

Meet The Designer, Clarissa Hulse

Designed in London and woven in Lancashire, the Clarissa Hulse x The British Blanket Company collection is a celebration of colour, nature, and British textile craftsmanship. It marks the first time Clarissa’s prints have been transformed into woven cotton blankets, and we’re so proud to have brought that vision to life.

“From the moment I met Clarissa, I knew we’d make something beautiful together,” says Bethan John, co-founder of The British Blanket Company. “Her prints are full of life and joy – translating them into woven fabric was a dream project.”

Artist Clarissa Hulse is known for her rich use of colour and botanical patterns. Working closely with Bethan, co-founder of The British Blanket Company, her designs were translated into an exclusive collection of woven blankets

British Designed and British Made

All The British Blanket Company's throws, blankets and picnic rugs are made in Britain, and this collaboration is no exception. The collection is woven at a jacquard mill in Lancashire with a long heritage of textile manufacturing. Specialising in complex patterns and fine detail, the mill uses traditional weaving techniques in combination with modern equipment to translate screen printed artworks into woven cloth, all without a single drop of ink.

We chose our Cloud Cotton blankets as the foundation for the collaboration. Made from recycled cotton yarns, Cloud Cotton is soft, breathable, and kind to the planet. The recycled fibres are created through a closed-loop system that diverts textile offcuts from landfill, transforming them into high-quality yarns. After weaving, each cotton throw is brushed for extra softness and hand-finished with a stitched edge.

“We’re committed to creating blankets that are both beautiful and responsible,” says Bethan. “Using recycled yarns and working with UK mills allows us to support local skills and lower our environmental impact.”

These throws feel every bit as luxurious as they look, tactile, comforting, and made to be cherished.

The collection is crafted at a family-owned mill that has woven fabrics for over 150 years. Sophisticated jacquard looms allowed us to push the craft of weaving to the limit, with detailed curved patterns and seven individual yarn shades in every blanket

Three Bold Designs & Five Ombré Colourways

The collection includes three designs in six colourways, each drawn from Clarissa’s archive of nature-inspired motifs and reimagined for the loom. Let's introduce you to each blanket:

Seedheads

A quiet, rhythmic design layering silhouettes of seedheads and grasses. The pattern has a soothing, spacious feel and lends itself beautifully to woven form. Soft and grounding, this is a blanket to slow down with. The Seedheads blanket is available in two ombré colourways, Moss green and Midnight blue.

Indian Summer

Vibrant and expressive, Indian Summer features an eclectic mix of foliage in a dynamic, full-scale composition. Rich colour and movement make this a standout design for statement styling. Choose from the warm colours of Sunset, or the refreshing teal blues of Peacock.

Bursting with life, the vibrant Indian Summer blanket features layered plant motifs in full scale across the generous size of the throw

Kaleidoscope

A playful cascade of ferns and foliage photographed during a trip to Costa Rica. With mirrored motifs and a pretty colour palette, Kaleidoscope feels soft and calming. This ombré blanket comes in carefully blended shades of pink, cream and grey.

The Kaleidoscope blanket makes a statement with its flowing design of ferns and trailing vines. It comes in a restful ombré palette of pinks, creams and warm grey

Clarissa Hulse Blanket: Seedheads in Midnight features overlapping wool throws with botanical patterns, blue whip-stitch border, and “The British Blanket Co.” label.

The finishing of a blanket is just as important as the weaving when creating a high-quality piece. The Clarissa Hulse blankets are brushed through rollers of tiny needles to created a sumptuously soft texture, before being completed with a blanket stitch border

Heirloom Quality Blankets, Woven to Last

Each blanket in the collection is fully reversible, with the pattern appearing in negative on the back. This subtle design detail not only gives you two looks in one, but also reflects the technical artistry involved in jacquard weaving. These throws are generous in size, satisfyingly weighty, and finished by hand to the highest standard.

“We both believe in thoughtful design and quality that lasts,” says Bethan. “These blankets tell story of creativity, craft, and collaboration - they're works of art in their own right and sure to be treasured as heirlooms of the future”

This is a limited-edition collection, available exclusively through The British Blanket Company.
