Job Description: eCommerce Manager

Location: Bristol 

Basis: Full time. Office-based or hybrid role with 3 days in the office

Reports to: Managing Director

Salary: £40 - £50k 

About the role: Following the relaunch of The British Blanket Company’s new website and product range in autumn 2024, we are seeking an experienced eCommerce Manager with a proven track record in driving online revenue.

As our first dedicated eCommerce Manager, you will take ownership of our store, implementing strategies to meet and exceed revenue targets while ensuring our website reflects our commitment to quality and craftsmanship. About the British Blanket Company: The British Blanket Company is an ambitious e-commerce brand founded in 2015 by Bristol-based siblings Bethan and Joe John. We design colourful and cosy blankets, scarves and accessories, which are made for us at historic mills in the British Isles.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Working with the Founders, contributes to the strategic direction of the business, proactively suggesting new activities, channels, or technology. 
  • Based upon this strategy, works with the Managing Director to create a financial revenue forecast that incorporates key metrics such as CVR, AOV and session volumes. 
  • Formulates and manages the trade plan to deliver strategy across all digital channels: 
    • Adjusting it on a regular basis based upon performance data 
    • Ensures the team, agencies and freelancers have clear actions and deadlines  
    • Plans ahead to brief in content requirements
  • Steers and maintains the email strategy, including transactional and marketing emails, campaigns and flows.
  • Manages the 3rd party paid media agencies and associated budgets.
  • Maintains a reporting suite to regularly and consistently report on key metrics, in-line with agreed company meeting schedule. 
  • Take overall responsibility for ensuring that all functions of the website are operating as expected, including day-to-day trade, merchandising, warehousing etc. 
  • Responsible for managing Shopify and all of the relevant integrations and apps used. This will include making all site updates (i.e. products, homepage, shipping pages, etc.)
  • Managing CRO and on-site optimisation, including A/B testing where relevant, to continually optimise the site.
  • Contributes to the smooth running of any other technology, i.e. Faire wholesale platform. 
  • Contributes to key company meetings.
  • The eCommerce Manager’s main KPIs will be: 
    • The forecasted revenue 
    • Ensuring the website portrays The British Blanket Company’s brand accurately. 

Experience:

  • At least 2 years experience as an eCommerce Manager, or equivalent role.
  • Ideally, this experience will be for a premium lifestyle brand with annual revenue of £1 million plus. 
  • Understands all aspects of running an eCommerce team, including paid media, website development, SEO, CRM, CRO etc. Whilst they are not expected to be an expert of each area, they must have a good enough understanding to manage each area. 
  • Comfortable working in a small business, and understanding that this means stepping outside the usual eCommerce Manager role on occasion. 
  • Extensive experience of using Shopify and Klaviyo.  
  • GA4 and Looker Studio - ability to analyse data and provide actionable insights. 
  • Highly organised and able to organise not just themselves, but others too, using project management tools such as Asana.
  • Exacting attention to detail to ensure the brand is consistently represented online.
  • Proactive, the eCommerce Manager will be the first in this role so they are expected to help shape the role and steer the brand’s success.
  • Clear communicator. Able to manage up and unify the efforts of external partners. 
  • Is numerate with advanced Excel skills.
