Waking up is just the beginning, now it’s time to dress your bed like a pro! Begin by shaking out the duvet and plumping the pillows. For a true designer look, fold about 30cm of the duvet back on itself at the head end, then place the pillows on top. Next, add a luxurious throw (or preferably two) at the foot of the bed. Throws can be crisply folded for a hotel look, or ripple them gently for a softer vibe. Finally, add your favourite cushions. A mix of sizes and shapes work well, with larger ones at the back and smaller decorative ones in front.

Did you know, a tidy bedroom can help improve your mood and sleep quality? A clutter-free home is essential spring cleaning, so take time for a good clear-out. Invest in some lidded baskets or an upholstered storage ottoman where winter duvets and thick wool blankets can be packed away. Swap in a lighter 4.5 tog duvet for the spring and summer season, plus a lightweight merino lambswool blanket for those cooler nights. Night time temperatures are variable in spring and wool fibres help regulate body temperature, keeping you warm when it’s cold, or cool when it’s hot.

At The British Blanket Company, we have the best selection of blankets and throws for all sizes of bed. The small throws are great as a runner at the end of a single or double bed, or as a handy extra layer around your shoulders. Our large throws are the most popular size, and work perfectly on double beds. If you need a throw for a king size bed, our XL throws are woven at a longer length to give a more generous drape down the sides. Head over to our detailed Blanket Size Guide to help you choose the perfect size blanket or throw for your bed.

If you have a larger bed, you’ll know king size throws can be tricky to find. We regularly get asked for extra large blankets, so we expand our range of king size throws every season to offer even more designs and colours. The XL throw collection now includes lightweight merino lambswool options, as well as pure wool king size blankets, with extra long throws up to 240cm for larger beds.

Ever wondered how to make your bed as inviting and sumptuous as they do in the glossy magazines? The answer is layering! Professional interior stylists choose bedlinen, throws and blankets in different textures for visual interest and a cosy look. Think crisp Egyptian cotton bedlinen contrasted with a luxurious velvet bedspread and thick woven wool blankets. Mix-up how each layer is styled, with some fabrics pulled taught and others gently rippled, for a look that’s unified, yet casual.
