What size blanket do I need for my bed?
When choosing a blanket for your bed, think about both width and drape.
A blanket that’s too small won’t cover you comfortably, while one that’s too large can feel bulky. Our general guidance based on UK bed sizes is:
- Single bed: Choose a 120 x 150cm blanket or use a 150 x 200cm blanket folded in half.
- Double bed: Opt for a 130 x 200cm blanket to sit on top, or and XL 150 x 250cm blanket if you like a generous drape.
- King or super king bed: Go for one of our XL 150 x 250cm blankets
The sizes above apply to our wool blanket ranges, but dimensions vary slightly for our cotton, merino and alpaca collections. The individual product pages show the size options for each blanket.
How do I measure-up for my blanket before I buy?
Try this quick tip! Cut a piece of string to the dimensions of the blanket you are considering, then lay this onto your bed to see how the blanket size will fit and how much drape it’ll have.
Remember, the amount of drape is affected by the depth of your mattress and thickness of your duvet, as well as their width.
Are the blanket dimensions exact, and do they include the tassels?
Our blankets are made from natural materials, so small size variations can occur between batches. The dimensions we provide are approximate, rather than exact. It can also take a little time for natural blankets to relax back to their full size, having been folded and packed for delivery.
All blanket dimensions include the length of any tassels.
What size blanket is best for an armchair or sofa?
For one person sitting with a blanket over their lap we recommend a small 120 x 150cm blanket.
For two people sitting together on a sofa, our large 130 x 200cm size or XL 150 x 250cm sizes will be perfect. Fold or drape your blanket over the back or arm when not in use.
We don’t recommend using our blankets as chair or sofa covers because the sitting area is subject to a lot of friction, leading to premature wear and pilling.
I need an extra-large blanket for a king size bed, can you help?
