Recently we featured Helen Hood, the designer and owner of Hill House B&B in Wiltshire and we loved every minute of talking to her. As you know, interior design has long been a passion of ours and being able to connect with creative decorators - whether professional interior designers or passionate homeowners - is something we love. Seeing a lovely home warms our heart, especially when our wool blankets are included!

For our second instalment of our Designer Spotlight Series, we're getting to know Judy of Mardle Cottage

Meet the Designer

When Judy isn't snapping pictures of her lovely cottage, she can be found looking through vintage shops for pottery and baking cakes and other delicious treats in her country kitchen. Her interior style is reflected in her baking, with vintage sugar and flour jars and cake stands perfectly displaying her latest goodies.

Mardle Cottage was built out of love and you can see why over 27,000 people follow her on Instagram for design inspiration. Keep reading and learn what inspires Judy when styling her home.

Where do you find design inspiration?

I find it on Instagram, in magazines, and films. Love the house in Somethings Gotta Give with Jack Nicolson and Diane Keaton!

What advice would you give someone who is just starting to decorate their home, and what do you love most about your home?

To go with your gut instinct. I usually know instantly if I like something or not! What I love most about my home is the kitchen. It's where we spend most of our time.

What's one thing you have to have in your home?

Fresh flowers!

Fresh flowers can be found throughout Mardle Cottage displayed in quirky vintage containers

Why did you start an Instagram account?

For inspiration. It’s a great place to meet people too. I’ve also found some great companies to buy from, who I wouldn’t normally have come across.

How would you style our wool blankets during warmer months?

Piled up on the ends of sofas ready to snuggle under at night!

Describe your dream room in 3 words?

Stylish, comfortable, and individual.

Anything else you’d like to share?

You can never have enough cushions! Mine get swapped around all the time!
